Rivkah Brown May 2026 The Suryavana cabin offered the ideal conditions for my first solitary retreat in April. Tucked in a quiet Valencian valley amid almond and olive groves, sandstone hills and distant mountains, the cabin offers a taste of renunciation – there is no running water in the cabin, for example, instead a tap in the field a few metres away – without feeling spartan. Having cooked food dropped off each day made a big difference to my experience, giving me significantly more time for practice, which I did at the cabin’s atmospheric shrine, and for just sitting on the deck listening to the birds or practising yoga (the cabin comes equipped with ample props). The cabin is situated near to a well-marked footpath between two villages, enabling me to spend several hours walking and exploring each day. Spring was the perfect time of year to go to Suryavana, as summer has not yet dried out the plains and the views comprised almost fluorescent greens, blues and oranges. The cabin did get a little cold at night and in the early morning, however extra blankets and a gas heater helped immensely with this. As a first-time solitary retreatant, I appreciated the supportive conditions of being under the care of the retreat centre, exchanging occasional notes with Sudaka about how I was getting on, hearing the faint sounds of retreatants in the main centre talking and laughing as night fell, and knowing that my relatives could contact Sudaka in an emergency. Altogether a profoundly deepening experience in an extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful setting.

Livia London, Uk April 2025 Suryavana’s wooden cabin provided a lovely and simple backdrop for a beautiful solitary retreat. The cabin is surrounded by lovely almond and olive groves and gorgeous, lush green rolling hills that stretch out as far as the eye can see. The beauty and simplicity of cabin life supported me in dropping into a greater presence and stillness. Thank you Sudaka for your kindness and welcome to beautiful Suryavana!
Megan from Bristol UK March 2024 «The cabin was a perfect holding space for my three week solitary retreat. It was magical to be waking up to bird song, sitting on the veranda watching the sunrise, taking walks through the breathtaking mountain scenery, watching the trees blossom and getting glimpses of rabbits, foxes and birds a plenty. I was here in late Feb to early March and was surprised I only needed to use the (very effective) heater a couple of times. The cabin is well kitted out with meditation and yoga props as well as lots of bedding and a fully equipped kitchen. I loved the wild feel of showering in the field, using the outdoor toilet, feeling the wind dance around the cabin and collecting a weekly food drop from under a tree; this facilitated a deeper landing into presence for me. The cabin felt huge for one person, which allowed for dedicated spaces for meditation, movement practice, reading and so forth. Shifting the energy in this way was very helpful for me on tricky days. Sudaka couldn’t have been more accommodating and thoughtful. Although we didn’t see each other during the three weeks, I felt the family’s loving presence holding me, which was reassuring! Mostly I felt deep joy, gratitude and freedom. I hope to be back soon! «
Arianne Bouché June 2023 (London United Kingdom) « I spent two weeks in Suryavana at the end of May and it was perfect for a solitary retreat, and easy to reach by train from Valencia. Suḍāka was a wonderful host: he filled the hut with food, collected more than was needed, and drove me from one side of the station to the other. This is a place where you can trust that you are in good hands and supported to deepen your practice. Perfect for anyone who wants a glamping experience in a beautiful setting with some great walks! »
